Makin' Stuff on a Sunday

Today while watching About a Boy on Hulu, I decided to make another bracelet. I think 95% of the jewelry I make is bracelets. I don't know. Anyway...I saw this tutorial and got going. I think I fudged a couple of the steps - I didn't actually read all the directions and figured I'd wing it, but it turned out ok, I guess.

Leather Lace Bracelet

The teal is leather lace. I have a big spool of it laying around, so while my first choice wouldn't have been teal, already having it wins over buying more. The grey-ish is embroidery floss, which is wrapped around your standard ball link chain.

Instead of making a new charm like in the tutorial, I used one I already had. I was given this earth charm during a woman's church retreat I went on years ago. I used to keep it on a necklace I often wear, but long story short I had to take it off, and now it has a new home on this bracelet :)

(Yesterday's) Wordless Wednesday: In Which I Try Out this Ombre Nail Thing

It kind of worked? Sooomeone keeps saying the green looks like baby poop :(

The green is "Agro" from China Glaze's Hunger Games collection. For the ombre I used this Kiss Gradation Kit in "Exposure."

A Short Fitness Update

Hello hello!

So last month when I wrote about my experiences in January, I mentioned how I started using an app called Noom, and was on a mission to lose weight. I'm happy to say I'm still on this journey and things aren't going too bad! I guess this sounds silly to alot of people. There's like a million fitness blogs/tumbrs/instagrams out there, and here I am learning how big a serving is and patting myself on the back for it. But you know what? That's ok. I decided I needed to lose weight, and yeah it's embarrassing, but sometimes you need to take baby steps. For a long time I didn't really have to worry much about my weight; then I turned twenty and my metabolism just decided it was done. So here I am. I've always been big on the exercising part of fitness, but I never paid much attention to diet, other than eat your fruits and veggies. Way to be an adult, huh? Hahah.

Anyway, I've been learning a LOT and have gotten much better (not perfect), at making smart eating choices. Even if I don't meet my weight loss goals, I'm proud of myself for learning something new (always keep learning!!!), making better decisions for myself, and most of all for not giving up, because this shit is hard, and honestly it isn't very fun. Its also been a little time consuming. I guess that's why they call it a lifestyle change.

Now for the big question, how much weight have I lost? In three weeks and three days, I've lost 8lbs! Yeah! Here's what I found interesting. A couple days ago I found that you can adjust how slowly/quickly it plans your weight loss on Noom (I told you, I'm new!). Before that I hadn't even thought about how much it was aiming for me to lose each week, and turned out its set goal was 1lb a week. My first week I lost 5lbs! It made me think of The Biggest Loser, how they always pull the big numbers on the first week and flounder on the second? That's how I felt, just less extreme (hah). On my second week I lost 2lbs, and last week I lost 1lb. That's 5 more than my set goal was! Not a bad start at all, I say! Obviously my weight will start dropping progressively slower (as you can see its already started), but any change at all makes me happy. Hopefully posting about all of this won't jinx anything, hahah.

So that's me, lately. I suppose this post isn't as fun or interesting as my others, but this is a big part of my life right now and I wanted to share :)

Everything is Awesome!

Have you seen The LEGO Movie yet? I finally went on Thursday; I was SO excited all week long, because as we recently discussed, I'm really into LEGO's :)

If you don't quite get the post title, it's from the ridiculously catchy faux-pop hit played over and over (and over) in the movie.

I also went covered in LEGO, because obviously. Shirt, bag, and you can't see them but I'm also wearing blue LEGO stud earrings.

I'm standing on my shower ledge. Short people problems...gotta step my selfie-game up.

So if you haven't already guessed, The LEGO Movie was AWESOME (see what I did there, heh). I can't wait to see it again. Something I thought was cool was how the whole thing looks like it's filmed in stop motion, unlike the obvious CGI used for LEGO video games and TV specials. The movie actually looked like there were LEGO people running around on screen. In reality it actually WAS made with CGI, with bits of stop motion thrown in. Either way, it was really, really cool to look at and I was impressed.

Also, I wanna throw this out there. If you don't want to see it, that's cool, just hear me out. Alot of people are saying, "It's a kids movie, why would I want to see that?" Ok, yeah it's classified as a kids movie, you're right. But there's lots of sly humor that your kids aren't going to get, which I found hilarious. I thought the whole movie was hilarious, really. There's also pieces of LEGO history thrown in, and if you're a big LEGO fan you will definitely notice and appreciate it. Nostalgia 100%.

Wordless Wednesday: In Which I Go to the Dentist

Real talk: I really love The Office. It might be my favorite show. I was so sad when it all ended, like, "what am I supposed to do now?" Well, watching Parks and Recreation helps, but we all know it isn't the same. Anyway, I had a dentist appointment yesterday, and the whole place was filled with Dunder Mifflin brand tissues! I guess if you didn't watch the show you have no idea, and think it's stupid. Maybe you did watch the show and still think it's stupid. Either way, I found it funny, and it made a trip to the dentist that much less sucky.
